Essay 1: Steven LaVigneTo Stand or Not To Stand? One of Those Questions... June 2005 Steven LaVigne has been writing about and commenting on Twin Cities theater for the past quarter century. His work has included reviews, essays, program notes, and plays. Among the publications to which he has contributed are Lavender, The Corcoran Neighborhood News, The Fan, Twin Cities Reader, Scene Magazine, Q Monthly, Enigma and the GLC Voice. From 1980 to 1992, he was the “Culture Vulture” on KFAI-FM’s “Fresh Fruit Show” with co-hosts Claude Peck and Marj Schneider. Currently, he writes book reviews for White Crane, theater reviews for the online magazine On the Purple Circuit, and reviews books and theater for Living Out. His essay Addressing Harassment: You’ve Got to be Carefully Taught was published in the book Letters to Our Children, published by Franklin Watts in 1997 and 1998. His play “The Little Princess: A Movie for the Stage” was presented in 2005. Essay 2: Quinton Skinner How Words Get Real July 2005 Quinton Skinner is a writer who lives in Minneapolis. He's a critic for City Pages and has published two novels: "Amnesia Nights," and upcoming this summer, "14 Degrees Below Zero: A Novel of Psychological Suspense." He has also written two nonfiction books, "Do I Look Like a Daddy to You?: A Survival Guide for First-Time Fathers," and "Behind the Music: Casualties of Rock." Essay 3: Anna PrattCreating an Alternative Universe July 2005 Anna Pratt is an arts and education writer for "Skyway News" and the "Southwest Journal." She has a background in journalism and art. Essay 4: Dominic P. PapatolaThe Lovable Mongrel August 2005 Dominic P. Papatola is the theater critic for the Saint Paul Pioneer Press and the chairman of the American Theatre Critics Association. Essay 5: Jaime KleimanBeyond Beginning, Middle, and End September 2005 Jaime Kleiman is a 2004-2005 Affiliated Writer with American Theatre magazine and the theatre columnist for Mpls./St. Paul magazine. Essay 6: Graydon RocyceBrave Souls September 2005 Graydon Royce is a theater critic for the Star Tribune in Minneapolis, on the drama desk since 1999. In 2003, he was a fellow at the O'Neill Theatre Critics Institute in New London, Conn. Royce is also a playwright and actor. He wrote "Ali!" with actor Geoffrey Ewing; it was produced at Mixed Blood Theatre, and in Louisville, Coconut Grove, New York, London and Chicago. In 1993, Royce wrote and produced two one acts at the Minneapolis Theatre Garage. He is married and has four children. |
