This Year's Party

The Ivey Awards event is the one night of the year to celebrate professional theater in the Twin Cities. Whether you’re a seasoned actor, someone who loves live theater, or just love to party, the Ivey Awards is THE place to be on September 22.

The party at r.Norman's is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and will include a hosted martini bar and food from several Twin Cities restaurants: The Capital Grille, Bellanotte, Palomino, Solera, Chambers Kitchen, and Mission American Kitchen & Bar. Guests will enjoy tantalizing food offerings as well as the opportunity to meet the Ivey Awards Ceremony hosts and presenters. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be presented to the recipient of the Ivey Awards life-time achievement honors.

The party at the State Theatre will feature great live entertainment from five of the 75 local theater organizations participating in the Ivey Awards. Also entertaining will be “The Ivey League” – a special group uniting exclusively for the annual Ivey Awards ceremony.

One of the highlights of the party will be the announcement of recipients of two prestigious awards – the award for life-time achievement and the award to an emerging artist. Both of these special honorees will be selected by the participating theater organizations, and will be awarded cash and prizes.

In addition, recognition will also be bestowed on theater organizations and individuals who have captured the attention of evaluators and the general theater-going public. From September 1, 2007 to September 1, 2008, over 100 volunteers have attended and evaluated over 200 local productions presented by 75 for-profit and non-profit professional theater organizations.

Plus, thousands of general theater-goers have rated their experiences for specific productions at IveyAwards.com. These “public” evaluations will be compiled and the results will honor special aspects of Twin Cities theater.

And the party at the State Theatre is only the beginning! Everyone attending the ceremony is invited - at no additional charge - to the big post-show celebration at Mission American Kitchen & Bar where the music will be hot, the beverages flowing, the fashions eye-popping, and the conversation lively.

The Ivey Awards will be a perfect opportunity to party with the artists and fans of the local theater scene. Never before in the Twin Cities will there be so many people who love theater at one location, on one night – a true reason to celebrate!
